As I set off on Avanti West from Euston, I remember the Italian word Avanti means “go ahead.” As the train leaves the station and picks up speed, I began to watch the lovely green fields and farm lands, the cattle and sheep grazing on the green meadows, it was indeed a beautiful sight.
We arrived mid-afternoon at Glasgow and met our two RNDM’s with open arms of welcome awaiting us Srs. Maria McMahon and Mary Frances Collett. (See photos below) We proceeded to the local train that took us to Paisley. I stayed with Maria and visited Glasgow city and the beautiful Cathedral and Paisley town.
Then I was driven to Bridge of Weir by Sr. Mary Frances who enjoys drivig. She was more than happy to take me to see the Highlands of Scotland; we visited the three sisters of Glencoe Mountain. Glencoe is a village in western Scotland, It lies in steep-sided Glencoe valley, in the Scottish Highlands. We also visited the beautiful blue clear bay at Largs Town which is on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, Scotland, about 33 miles from Glasgow. The original name means “the slopes” in Scottish Gaelic. I was awe struck at the beauty of nature and thanked God for the marvellous image of creation here and felt it was a real treat and a feast to my eyes.
I was pleasantly surprised by the stream that ran so gently along the house where Mary Frances lives, it was so peaceful and meditative to walk beside it. The two sisters were very hospitable and kind and I enjoyed my trip to Scotland. I am so grateful to the PLT for allowing me this trip and to Rose Mary for accompanying me on the first part of the journey.
